02/07/2010 - Squad update

Two members of the Greenbank BB squad from 09/10 have opted for a fresh challenge in the coming season and have signed for our sister club, Greenbank COS. They are:

Tommy Connell: (199 games, 55 goals, 41 assists, 11 MOTM's) - Wing wizard Tam has been with club with season 02/03 playing a major role in securing promotions through the SECL's divisions scoring a good number of goals along the way.

Alistair Baird: (81 games, 1 goal, 3 MOTM's) - Primarily a goalkeeper but also a good outfield player Ali has contributed well to the club over a couple of spells, including the succesful 08/09 season when the club achieved it's highest ever league finish.

Thanks to both players for their contribution and services to the team over the years and all the best for their future endeavours with Greenbank COS, as both clubs train together staying in touch should be easy!

08/06/2010 - 09/10 Awards

Greenbank BB's annual awards dinner was held on Saturday 5th June.

The following awards were presented:

Player of the Year

1st : Roy Dale

2nd : Micheal Elliott

3rd : David Lonergan

Congratulations to Roy for winning the award in his debut season, he has caused opposition defences big trouble all season and is in the running for the league award having landed numerous MOTM's through the year.

Also well done to Mick and Dave both of whom have placed in the top three for two seasons running showing great consistency clearly appreciated by team-mates.

As mentioned on the night thanks to all the squad for your committment and efforts throughout the season.

Top Goalscorer : David Brown

Well done to Bomber who notched the top goalscorer award once again with an impressive 27 strikes whilst only playing half the season in his favoured forward role. I'm sure he would once again have been in the running for the league award if given the full season up there, so thanks for taking one for the team!

Enjoy the break lads and the World Cup! Details on preseason will follow in due course.

14/10/2009 - Assistant Manager

Following an injury sustained versus Carluke Allan Dobbie has been forced to hang up his boots for the forseeable future after being diagnosed with medial ligament damage. Allan had this season made his comeback  following anterior cruciate ligament damage in the same knee, the combined damage means that Allan is forced to take a break from playing for at least a couple seasons to allow for further surgery and rehabilitation. This is a real blow to Allan and the bankies as he was getting back to his brilliant best.

The good news is that Allan is keen to stay involved and has taken up the post of Assistant Manager of the side. Allan brings a great knowledge of the game and has already demonstrated some keen ideas for coaching sessions. At the moment he will be doing the post part time due to recently becoming a father but will step up his involvement over the coming weeks.

27/09/2009 - New signing

Bankies have recently completed the signing of Martin Thomson to strengthen the squad in light of injuries and forthcoming work committments of several players. Marty T has spent the last few years with Greenbank United and has played with several of the current squad both there as well as at Clarkston, Busby and back in the day in the school team. Martin can operate in both defence and midfield and should prove an excellent shot in the arm for the squad. Welcome aboard martin!

27/08/2009 - SECL Dedication Service

There will be a service held tomorrow in St. Silas Church in the Woodlands area of Glasgow to celebrate the beginning of a new season within the SECL and so all teams can join together in fellowship.

The service starts at 7pm so the 2nd Team are meeting at Clarkston car park at 6.15pm so we can go across in as few cars as possible (parking can be a nightmare at the Church).  I understand Gary and Mo will be attending but it would be nice if more could make it.

St. Silas Church is located at 69 Park Road, Woodlands, Glasgow G4 9JE.  A map to the Church can be found at http://www.stsilas.org.uk/index.php?page=find-us

The 44 bus also runs past the Church if you can't make it to the car park.

This is a great chance for all our players (new and old) to meet players from other clubs within the Churches League.

16/08/2009 - 09/10 Squad update

To help bankies achieve their goals for the season ahead the following players have been added to the squad.

Roy Dale: An exciting signing for the bankies, Roy has a great history in the SECL having won 1st Div POTY and the league title previously. Will bring real pace, goalscoring ability and work ethic to the side. Signs from Greenbank United

Jamie Gilliland: Skilful, creative, link up man who holds the ball very well. Soon to be brother in-law to the Connells! Spent last season in the junior ranks with Neilston.

Andy Grainger: Experienced, determined defender that likes to get the ball down and build from the back, signs from Greenbank United.

Players moving on :

Niall Blair : Niall recently landed a dream scholarship to play for a US college team and headed out recently on a two year contract. We hope to see him back in a bankies jersey following his adventure and wish him all the best in the states. One of his team-mates is called Ace!

Gary Scott : Gaz was on the fringes of the 1st team sqaud last season and impressed greatly whenever called upon, including a 4 goal salvo in 20 minutes versus V.Croftfoot that we are unlikely to forget! Gary is making the move to the new Greenbank COS side to play with his mates from the BB section and to get more game time, the door remains open for a return to the 1st team.
