20/06/2008 - Bankies 10th Birthday Party

The GreenbankBB team (formally 223BB) has now been going for 10 years,  i remember as a young whippersnapper attending the first training session at Overlee Park meeting Pete,Gordon,Rodney Wallace, Andy Weir, someone called Beefy, Phil and Ted amongst others for the first time (it was quite traumatic..)

To celebrate this momentous occasion (and to collect in your subs) i'm planning to host a barbecue, weather permitting, on Sunday 29th June at my illustrious Stamperland address. If the weather is rubbish we shall head to the pub instead. More details nearer the time.

Subs for season 08/09 will be £30 and must be brought along on the 29th as we have bills for League Fee's and Insurance that require to be paid in the near future, plus getting them in on this date means that the excess can be spent on training equipment and kit ahead of preseason training. Any other admin can be covered on the day.

The Player of the Year trophies will also be presented. (No more champagne incidents please!)

02/06/2008 - 07/08 Player Awards

The Greenbank BB Awards Dinner was held on Friday 30th May. The awards were handed out as follows :

Player of the Year (As voted by team colleague and Man of the Match Awards)

1st : Matt Mullen

2nd : Alan Young

3rd : Chris Morris

Top Goalscorer :

1st : Alan Young

2nd : David Brown

3rd : Scott Fergie (& self proclaimed half player of the season)

Well Done to the recipients, richly deserved. Matt's came in and won the award in his debut season which is a great achievement, his steady and consistent performances at the back were key to helping the Bankies adjust to life in the first division. Matt also became the first winner of the award to have came from the defence and the second winner in a row to hail from Barrhead (Williamwood FP's must address this next season!)

Youngie has continued to build on his good season last year and has some fired in some great goals whilst Mo has shown fantastic versality having played three positions throughout the season to a high standard. Well done again

No further details of the night out shall be divulged on this website!

Roll on 08/09

25/06/2007 - Injuries update

Allan Dobbie went under the knife last week to get his anterior cruciate ligament sorted. The operation went well  but Allan is not forecasted to return until season 08/09. All the best to Allan in his recovery. We'll certainly miss his thunderbolt shots from midfield in the meantime.

Also getting giddy on aneathstetic is Phil Briggs with his knee operation booked in this week, fingers crossed all goes well and Briggsy can get himself back to full fitness. (We'll need to talk his missus round to let him play tho!)

In the meantime both players are expected to join the sideline "banter" enthusiasts for next season.

12/06/2007 - Player of the Year Awards

At the recent awards dinner the folllowing prizes were dished out as follows:

Player of the Year

1st : Iain Crapnell

2nd : Christy Moffat

3rd : Russell Hastie

Top Goalscorer

1st : David Brown

2nd : Iain Crapnell

3rd : Russell Hastie

Congratulations to the all the award winners, particulary  Iain "Oh my back" Crapnell and David "I've been top scorer for the last 4 seasons" Brown and everyone else in the squad. A measure of the team effort in season 0607 is that 13 different players received votes for the Player of the Year so well done again. Don't come back too fat for preseason!

24/05/2007 - Subscriptions 2007-08

Team subs are now due for next season and will remain at £20.  Can all players who intend to be at the Team Dinner on 1st June (and play next season) please bring along their subs.  The amount will remain at £20 which will help pay our League Fees and finance a few extras (hopefully) for next season.

No student or OAP discounts are offered and asking may cause offence!!

24/05/2007 - Player of the Year 2006-07

As our end of season dinner is almost upon us, it's time to start thinking about your player of the season.  Who's been scoring those cracking goals?  Who's defensive duties have been superlative?  Who's work ethick has been unquestioned?  All things to consider when voting.

Please e-mail me with your 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed players so I can collate the votes and announce the decision at the Team Dinner.

You've all played a part in a very successful season for Bankies and even if you don't get a mention you should be rightly proud of your contribution.  Every little helps (as Silver Fox's goal last night proves).

Get your votes in as quickly as possible so I have time to get things engraved.

Well done again lads and I'll see you all on the 1st!!

24/05/2007 - Pre-season Training 2007-08

Well done to all who played and supported Greenbank BB this season.  Last night was our last game of a very successful season.  I'm sure we'll all enjoy the rest over the summer but already we need to start planning for next as it looks like we'll be promoted to Division 1.

To that end, we'll start our pre-season training on Tuesday 17th July 2007 with a 6.30pm start.  This will give us a good couple of weeks to lift our fitness levels before going into a series of friendlies in August.

Enjoy the break and I'll see you all in July!!
